Enhancing Association Capacities: Insights from the 1st TMC and Advocacy Open Week

As part of RCDN’s continuous efforts to strengthen the role of Associations of Public Utility Companies (APUCs) and Local Government Associations (LGAs), the TMC (Training Management Cycle) and Advocacy Open Weeks provided an engaging platform for knowledge exchange, hands-on learning, and tailored support.

The first Open Week was organized for partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, bringing together representatives from the two APUCs (AWRS and UPKP) and two LGAs (ATMRS and AMCFBiH). These dedicated sessions allowed participants to deepen their understanding of capacity development, training management, and advocacy strategies, equipping them with the tools to enhance their services for members.

Focused Sessions for Stronger Associations

During the Open Week, participants explored key topics, including:

  • Optimizing the Training Management Cycle – Practical insights into planning, delivering, and evaluating training programs to ensure long-term impact.
  • Strengthening Advocacy Efforts – Strategies to effectively represent members’ interests, engage stakeholders, and drive policy improvements in the water and wastewater sector.
  • Tailored Support and Peer Learning – Interactive discussions to address specific challenges and align strategies with each association’s needs.

The sessions not only provided theoretical and practical knowledge but also encouraged associations to reflect on their internal processes, ensuring they are well-equipped to serve their members effectively.

Scaling the Approach: Future Open Sessions for Other Partners

Recognizing the diverse needs of APUCs and LGAs across the region, RCDN will continue organizing similar Open Weeks for other partners. These sessions will be customized to each association’s context, ensuring that the support provided is practical, actionable, and aligned with their strategic priorities.

By contextualizing the approach for each partner, RCDN reinforces its commitment to building resilient associations, enhancing policy dialogue, and strengthening the capacity development ecosystem in the Western Balkans.

Stay tuned for updates on upcoming Open Weeks and how they will help shape the future of capacity development and advocacy in the region!
