SHUKOS (D-Leap UBP Hub) successfully held a comprehensive two-day training titled Mastering Utility Benchmarking: Using UBP Platform for Optimal Performance from 28-29 August 2024 at Hotel Brezovica, Kosovë. Seventeen participants from public utility companies across Albania gathered to enhance their skills in utility benchmarking, data management, and performance monitoring using the UBP platform.
Key Objectives and Learning Outcomes
The training aimed to equip Albanian HUB coordinators with the necessary knowledge and skills to use and manage performance indicators on the UBP platform effectively. Specific goals included data collection, performance analysis, benchmarking, and generating comparative reports.
Participants deepened their understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs), improved data validation processes, and learned best practices for monitoring and improving utility performance.
Interactive Learning and Group Work
The training featured interactive sessions, including:
- Benchmarking Importance and Company Engagement: Trainers emphasized the significance of engaging all company sectors in the benchmarking process.
- Platform Navigation and Data Entry: Participants practiced using the UBP platform’s features for data entry, variable analysis, and performance monitoring.
- Group Workshops by Expertise: Teams focused on technical, financial, and service quality variables, enabling in-depth discussions and real-time platform exercises.
Key Findings and Challenges
Participants identified challenges such as platform translation issues, adapting reporting timelines, and ensuring interdepartmental data sharing. They also highlighted the need for senior management buy-in to enhance data reliability and platform utilization.
Looking Ahead: Next Steps
As a follow-up, teams were tasked with addressing identified platform issues, refining data entry practices, and enhancing inter-company comparisons. The next workshop is scheduled for November 2024 in Kosovo, where progress and remaining challenges will be reviewed.
